Bell Beverage Stocks the Best Beer in Philadelphia

July 21st, 2017

Are you looking for a great local brew? Good news: Bell Beverage stocks the best beer in Philadelphia. We’ve been in the neighborhood for over 50 years and are glad to share some of our favorite tried and true local brewing companies.

5 Philadelphia Beers To Try If You Haven’t Yet

  • Victory. Victory Brewing Co. makes beer that is unique and flavorful. They use German malted barley, European and American hops, and 45 different yeast strains. They are also one of the few brewing companies that uses whole flower hops in their brewing process. Lastly, you can feel good about your purchase: Victory is committed to sustainability, donating their spent grain to be used as pig and cow feed at local farms and animal sanctuaries.
  • Troegs. The first thing you need to know about Troegs is that they have a diverse flavor palette. They have bright and redolent IPAs, red ales, and a mean chocolate stout, to name a few. Troegs is a family affair, started by brothers Chris and John Trogner. In fact, their company name is a combination of their last name and the Flemish word for pub, Kroeg.
  • Evil Genius. Evil Genius Beer Company brews straight out of Philadelphia. They produce a variety of classic American IPAs, Saison / Farmhouse Ales, and even a few specialty spiced beers. Known for giving brews eccentric names like Naughty or Nice, Hold Me Closer Tony Danza, or Bye Felicia, quirky creativity is an essential ingredient.
  • Neshaminy Creek. Aptly named, Neshaminy Creek Brewing Companyuses Neshaminy Creek water in all their brews. This Bucks County company has been crafting high quality brews since they first opened in 2012. We recommend that you try their award-winning Vienna lager. However, if that’s not your style, they have hoppy IPAs as well as a malt and citrus-flavored American Pale Ale named in tribute to Philadelphia, J.A.W.N. (Jule Ale with Nugget).
  • Yards. You can’t go wrong with Yards Brewing Company. They’ve been brewing in Philadelphia since 1994 and are one of the best hometown brews in the area. If you love malt forward beers with rich toffee undertones, try Yard’s Brawler Pugilist Style Ale. It’s a beer for any occasion. Plus, The Alström Bros on Beer Advocate rated it an outstanding 91/100.
